Refurbishing or upgrading an existing computer room or data centre is a complicated and challenging task. In many ways it is easier to build a new facility within an existing building, or to build new if space permits.
Refurbishment & Upgrade Projects
Migration Solutions has carried out a number of refurbishment and upgrade projects within a ‘live’ facility. If space allows, it may be possible to temporarily condense the racks to one part of the room whilst refurbishing the remaining area. Once the new section of the refurbishment, upgrade or refit is complete, the racks, switches, servers and other devices can be moved to the new area.
This may look straightforward, but it involves detailed planning. In most instances the existing computer room or data centre is in a poor state and extreme care is needed during the refit or refurbishment to ensure that the risk of outages is minimised.
